On Saturday, I headed over to Anyung to see Shannon-She finally moved in to her new place!! :) We hung out in the morning and took a stroll through a wilderness-ish area nearby. It's so beautiful where she lives, and she has an amazing view of the mountains from her apartment. Lucky girl.
At 12:30pm, we met up with Reuel and headed into Myeongdong to meet one of Shannon's friends, Arri. Arri is actually a friend-of-a-friend, but Shannon had heard good things about her and was told to meet up with her. Arri has been teaching in Korea for awhile now, so she was going to show us around a little bit. We met up with her and hit it off right away. She's really great, and we had a great time chatting. :) We did some shopping: Forever 21, H & M, and a few smaller shops. (It was so nice that I finally had my first paycheck and a bank account set up because I was able to do a little bit of shopping!!)
Around dinner time, we headed to Hongdae. Reuel wanted to take us to this really famous restaurant that she's been dying to try, but we decided against it when we realized how far away it was. That will be for another time. :) We settled for a galbi place. It was SO SPICY!! I ate one bite and couldn't eat anymore. The other three ate it up, sweating a little bit, while I chowed down on rice and corn...I just can't handle how spicy some of the food is here. After that, we decided to go get some ice cream. The girls' mouths were still on fire, and I hadn't eaten much dinner yet. Ice cream seemed like the perfect decision. :)
We walked a few blocks looking around for what we wanted. We ended up at the Hello Kitty Yogurt place. Yes. There is a restaurant, decorated completely in Hello Kitty, where they sell yogurt and waffles. It was super yummy!! It's a two-story building, completely decorated inside and out with Hello Kitty paraphernalia. When we got inside, we had to choose our seats before we ordered. We chose a booth in the corner on the second floor. Reuel, Arri, and I all ordered yogurt, and Shannon bravely tried the waffle. All of it was delicious. :) We talked for a long time, and decided to go see a movie. There was a movie theater close by, so we went to check out movies and times.
We bought tickets to see Columbia, a movie which none of us knew anything about. It looked good from the picture, so we got the tickets. We had an hour to kill so we bummed around town and stopped in a convenience store for a popsicle. I know. More ice cream, right? :) Before the movie, we decided to order some popcorn and drinks. The popcorn in Korea is SO GOOD. There are different flavors of popcorn you can get: Butter, Caramel, or Honey. We each paired up and ordered a combo with drinks to save some money, but all of us got the caramel popcorn. It's definitely the favorite here.
When the movie was over, we all headed home. It was an incredible Saturday night. Extremely busy and non-stop, but really good. I just love meeting new people and seeing new places.
